Supervision

Therapy and counselling that moves lives forward.

I provide professional supervision for anyone that has to make use of therapeutic skills. I bring to my practice more than 20 years of experience in supervising therapists, counsellors and others using counselling techniques. I have also been an approved supervisor for PTUK (Play Therapy UK) for 10 years.

In working with supervisees, I act as a combination of mentor, coach, consultant, evaluator – as well as a soundboard for ideas. My principal goals in supervision are to create a supportive relationship that allows my client to develop their practice, along with working through any specific issues they may be facing.

The benefits of supervision

Supervision is normally a mandatory requirement for both trainees and practising professionals in the therapeutic field. It’s a crucial aspect of practice for anyone in the field. Without supervision, individuals are often working in isolation and lack any external perspective or support.

My supervision can help:

  • tackle tricky situations in your work
  • suggest strategies for clients you are stuck with
  • restore effectiveness when your energy levels dip
  • develop your practice
  • improve the quality of your work

Who can benefit from supervision?

Anyone using therapeutic or counselling methods in their role can benefit from supervision. Most obviously, this includes professional therapists and counsellors. However, other teams and individuals in a variety of settings are now called upon to deal with complex emotional issues. These include:

  • Headteachers
  • Teachers and educational support assistants
  • Support workers
  • Social care
  • Therapy managers

I have experience in supervising all of the above (and many more). Supervision can be offered both individually and, where appropriate, to groups.
