For over 30 years, I have been providing therapeutic help and support for adults, children, young people and families. I work with private clients, local authorities, fostering agencies and private refuges. Based in Swindon, I work within Wiltshire and the neighbouring counties.
Over my career, I have worked with all sorts of people with all sorts of issues. The skills and experience I’ve acquired, together with formal study, equips me to work with a huge range of problems that clients need help with. However, my specialism is attachment-focused interventions, an area within which I’ve provided training and consultancy services for many organisations and individuals.
My first job as a counsellor and therapist is to create a supportive, empathetic relationship with my client. This allows my client to feel safe and secure enough to begin exploring the issues that have brought them to me.
Based on my initial assessment, I then select the best approach and techniques to help them progress. Experience has shown me that a ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy simply doesn’t work in the real world. I therefore use an eclectic approach, using many different techniques that are matched to the needs of the client or organisation. Being multi-systemic I choose what is the appropriate approach ensuring that they give clients – both children and adults – the mental and emotional space to work through problems.
